ComixPress Goes Under

Wow, just found out today that the vanity press company I used to print my comics - Comixpress - has gone under. To be honest, it's not that surprising, nor is it all that much of a setback, since I feel confident I have more than enough books left over for Otakon (people don't look for original stuff at conventions, they're there for fanart fo their favorite characters), but it is dissappointing. I had the first two books loaded and saved there, going to a new company means formatting all 300-someodd pages all over again. And then there's the problem of finding a new company to do it...

I checked Ka-Blam, which does have a comics model, but it seemed really restrictive. I can understand not offering custom page sizes as ComixPress did - that was likely a pain, and people like me using custom sizes was likely WAY more trouble than it was worth - but they wouldn't let you set your own page count either, and since I make webcomics without traditional page limitations, I don't think I could tailor my books to that very easily, especially since their maximum page count was 64, which is awfully small.

I'll probably end up over at Lulu, since I know a lot of people use it and it produces quality stuff, but their pricing and limitations aren't as easy to find as Ka-Blam's were, so I won't be sure that they don't have the same restrictions until I create an account...and since I don't need to do so just yet, I'm going to hold off on it and focus on getting ready for Otakon for the time being...still, it'll be something I'll have to figure out soon, with Volume 3 of the comic drawing to a close. :\ What a bummer...

But I got a Button Maker in the mail today, so there is good news to be had.

Not cool. I don't suppose there's any way you could get your formatted layouts from them?

Good luck with Lulu, but sorry this happened.
