Critique wise, I like the setting of the image, the buildings and the moon, but I feel that you could have pushed the mood a bit more, with some darker shading and brighter highlights. Another thing is the "corner" moon. I can't say for certain but I think those should be avoided (I was told years ago). There's also a possible scaling issue with the furtherest building where Mirhe is featured. Either the building is quite close, or she's quite huge compared to the others. I'm honestly not sure how you could fix that though, it'd be hard to balance building distance while keeping all the cats in focus. Lastly, I think the whole Distopia City feel (if that's what you're still going for in the comic at this point) would have come through a bit sharper if you'd added some more buildings in the distance, even just a block of black with some highlights or glowing windows. Although that all said I know what you're going for and I think you pulled it off well
Also, how much have you made from the DD store?
Mostly with the background, I just wanted to give the particular buildings they were on some character, since I am so bad at backgrounds (particularly buildings, I can usually fudge it with nature scenes but buildings give me so much trouble. WHYYY did I choose this setting?
"Also, how much have you made from the DD store?"
Absolutely nothing!
It's like when I printed volume 1 of TM. I only printed it because I wanted a copy, and I bought a bunch of extras myself to give out to family and friends. They were all "but we want to buy it!" And I'm just thinking, "like you'd pay money for it when it's free online." Still putting together volume 2, though. I want a copy for myself.
Here's a question I've been meaning to ask. Why did you decide to go with Drunk Duck as a comic host?
I had made a few friends on the forums there, and they invited me to this new site "drunkduck". I tend to be pretty brand loyal, so I was reluctant to do it, but I figured a backup couldn't hurt.
...Drunkduck was so much better.
They coded everything for you, made uploading pages a snap, and a nice, easygoing community. I fell in love...and abandoned Keenspace, haha!
Thre's a lot of pages like it, now, Smackjeeves and others. Comicgenesis might be like that now, too, I don't know, but I've stuck with Drunkduck through two major site crashes, and I feel like they've still treated me pretty well. I won't say they're the best site out there, but they've been good enough to keep me loyal, which Keenspace couldn't do, haha!
My only issues with Drunk Duck is that it's slow loading (like a drunk duck) and they like to always remind you that the comic you're reading is hosted by them, which is understandable but like I said, with the comic on Smack Jeeves I didn't realize it was a comic host site for a while
I've been somewhat interested in putting a mirror site for TM on SmackJeeves, though, just to have a backup (and get more exposure! Whoo!
