Dragons of FFC - Cat Form by dragonsong12 Dragons of FFC - Cat Form by dragonsong12
These are the four dragons who have appeared thus far in my webcomic, Firefly Cross: [link]

The dragons of my webcomic are furred and can change forms into various cats in order to hide themselves...but they never get it exactly right.
The grey bobcat-sorta one is Sadryn. His dragon-form looks like this: [link]
The black panther one is Raithlin. Here's his dragon form: [link]
The black house cat is Chaerius, you guy have probably seen him before:[link]
And the tawny leopard in the back is Mirhe. Her dragon form is here: [link]

This image was made for the drunk duck store and has actually been sitting in limbo - inked but not colored - for months. I'd like to draw all their dragon forms too, but I'm not sure how I'd fit them all in an 8X10 image ^^;
It'll hopefully be appearing in the DD store soon, it just may not be immediately.

My first reaction was "There's 4 dragons in Firecross now?" I'm that behind :D; (I'm on the Chapter 6 title page).

Critique wise, I like the setting of the image, the buildings and the moon, but I feel that you could have pushed the mood a bit more, with some darker shading and brighter highlights. Another thing is the "corner" moon. I can't say for certain but I think those should be avoided (I was told years ago). There's also a possible scaling issue with the furtherest building where Mirhe is featured. Either the building is quite close, or she's quite huge compared to the others. I'm honestly not sure how you could fix that though, it'd be hard to balance building distance while keeping all the cats in focus. Lastly, I think the whole Distopia City feel (if that's what you're still going for in the comic at this point) would have come through a bit sharper if you'd added some more buildings in the distance, even just a block of black with some highlights or glowing windows. Although that all said I know what you're going for and I think you pulled it off well :). Oh and don't mind me I'm trying to practice critiquing now that I'm exposed to so much of it at school.

Also, how much have you made from the DD store?

Haha! Well Raithlin and Mirhe have only appeared in one story arc thus far (and not a very good one) and are mostly background characters. They'll both be coming back though.

Mostly with the background, I just wanted to give the particular buildings they were on some character, since I am so bad at backgrounds (particularly buildings, I can usually fudge it with nature scenes but buildings give me so much trouble. WHYYY did I choose this setting?:XD:) The corner moon was a last minute addition, since I had the hi-lights on their backs, but no light source. Oops! ^^;

"Also, how much have you made from the DD store?"
Absolutely nothing! :D I didn't expect to, though. I can't even fathom why anyone would pay for my stuff. I mostly use it as an excuse to make some of these pictures that I wanted to do anyway, and once I get a bit of money, it means I can buy stuff with my art on it, and that's good enough. (This for example, I want to get on a box!)
It's like when I printed volume 1 of TM. I only printed it because I wanted a copy, and I bought a bunch of extras myself to give out to family and friends. They were all "but we want to buy it!" And I'm just thinking, "like you'd pay money for it when it's free online." Still putting together volume 2, though. I want a copy for myself. :XD:

The store thing sounds like something I'd do :D. I'd love to have a set of 3-5 mugs with my characters on them, probably in chibi form, saying or doing something semi-funny.

Yeah, it's actually kind of awesome for that. I think my only complaint is that they don't offer a discount to the artists. Maybe they just haven't programmed it in yet. (I mean, I do get proceeds back on my own sales, it just seems like it'd be easier to cut out the middle man.)

It might be in the works already, or maybe they just figure there's no need because the proceeds just make their way back to you?

Here's a question I've been meaning to ask. Why did you decide to go with Drunk Duck as a comic host?

I used to be on Keenspace ("Comicgenesis" now) and it suuuuuuuucked! There was a several month wait time to get a site. There was a long, complicated process to building a site and posting pages. It was a mess. But at the time, there weren't many options short of buying your own domain.
I had made a few friends on the forums there, and they invited me to this new site "drunkduck". I tend to be pretty brand loyal, so I was reluctant to do it, but I figured a backup couldn't hurt.
...Drunkduck was so much better.
They coded everything for you, made uploading pages a snap, and a nice, easygoing community. I fell in love...and abandoned Keenspace, haha!

Thre's a lot of pages like it, now, Smackjeeves and others. Comicgenesis might be like that now, too, I don't know, but I've stuck with Drunkduck through two major site crashes, and I feel like they've still treated me pretty well. I won't say they're the best site out there, but they've been good enough to keep me loyal, which Keenspace couldn't do, haha!

I didnt know hat about Keenspace. There were some comics on there I used to follow, but I think they've migrated elsewhere. Personally there's something about SmackJeeves that I like. I was following some comics there and didn't even know they weren't in their own domain until later!

My only issues with Drunk Duck is that it's slow loading (like a drunk duck) and they like to always remind you that the comic you're reading is hosted by them, which is understandable but like I said, with the comic on Smack Jeeves I didn't realize it was a comic host site for a while ^^;

Well, my only real experiences have been with Keenspace, Drunkduck, and pensandtales (which is pretty much dead in the water) so I can't say much for SmackJeeves at present. Of the sites I've actually tried, Drunkduck has treated me the best, even when they've had troubles.
I've been somewhat interested in putting a mirror site for TM on SmackJeeves, though, just to have a backup (and get more exposure! Whoo! :D) so I'm okay with them too, I just don't have firsthand experience with them...YET!

Ooo, kitties on dilapidated buildings~ Tis a cool pic. I really like the buildings in this one, especially the fore-left building. That one's really cool.

Yeah, I'm generally so bad with buildings (well, backgrounds in general, but buildings specifically, haha!) so I put a bit of extra effort into it this time, because I wanted the buildings themselves to have a bit of character, too. I'm glad it came out, okay!
