Christmas Ornaments by dragonsong12 Christmas Ornaments by dragonsong12
Gifts made for my grandmother and aunt this Christmas. It's been so long since I've painted anything, I thought I'd post them here. There's nothing spectacular about them, but they were kind of fun.

I was completely stumped on what to get for them this Christmas, until my sister suggested this. I have to admit, when she first suggested it, my first thought was "I'm not even sure I CAN paint anymore!" I guess it's kind of like riding a bike, though, haha! Luckily, Michael's sells blank ornaments, so it was pretty straightforward.

It's my turn to make an extremely late reply to your stuff :P.

It's nice to see artists do things like this, especially when it's out of their usual realm of art. Last year I painted 11 lightbulbs to look like snowmen, and I remember thinking "how am I going to do this? I can't paint!" but they turned out decent ;).

I really like what you did with both ornaments. The one with the tree has a nice atmosphere about it, and the one with the sleigh -- well for gods sake! IT HAS A FREAKIN' SLEIGH! And a horse! I can only image how hard that must have been to paint!

The main issue with the horse was how small it was...that and not being able to sketch it in beforehand. I'm still amazed it came out as good as it did. Thanks! I'm glad they came out well. :D

Haha! That's what my family said when I showed them to them! :XD: Thanks, though, they were kind of fun to make.

You know, I was just thinking of that myself! I was going to try to do some sketches while I was home for this break. Things got so busy right before the holiday, but part of that was getting my comics for this week AND next week done, so I'm pretty open.
...now I have to find time among all this relaxing I'm doing. :XD:

very pretty! i did this one year, with colored glass balls and glitter paint....nothing as detailed as yours (I think I did snowflakes on a blue one, poinsettias on a green one, etc...) but was fun to do and made thoughtful gifts...I like homemade gifts! :D

Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!

It does add a little extra something, making them yourself, doesn't it? Haha, yours sound cute too, and much more crafty than simply putting some paint on, haha! :D It's was fun, though, you're absolutely right!
