(Fair warning, most of this will be what's posted on the actual comic page, so if you've already seen that, then this will be pretty moot.)

My webcomic Twisted Mirrors has finally come to an end. www.twistedmirrorscomic.com if you'd like to see the final product. There are hits and there are misses, but it's done! :D

...but that doesn't mean that this is the end!

There's going to be a sequel. It will be set an indeterminate amount of time into the future and feature an entirely different cast of characters. I don't intend to even mention the characters from the first comic in it, so if you're looking for direct connections, you may be disappointed. (The point of open-ended endings is to allow you the readers to decide what happens, if I start dictating things to you then that's rendered moot.)

I learned a lot from the mistakes I made with the first comic and I hope to correct at least some of them. As far as the story goes, it's going to be a much more traditional story structure. The non-traditional structure of the first comic wasn't really intentional, so I don't want to even attempt it again. Having the story set more solidly will allow me to focus in on the characters a bit more, which is what I really enjoy writing anyway.

The sequel will be darker, especially in the beginning. I don't mean superficially dark in the way that some stories are. It won't be any more violent or "gritty" than the first one (arguably less so, since the first comic had a room full of gore) it will just be in the tone. And I said, this is mostly in the first couple of chapters, but I just wanted to point that out.

There'll be a couple of other changes too in the way pages are made as well, but I don't think they'll look too different. They'll still be the same pen-and-ink black-and-white style.

I think that's everything I wanted to explain. The only other thing to discuss is when the comic will start. Since I was working on the last comic with a substantial buffer, I've actually already taken a month off and have started work on the sequel, so this won't be a situation of a webcomic going on hiatus and never coming back. There will be a hiatus however, I'm just not sure how long. So what do you guys think? At the very least I'd like to build my buffer back up to where it was. There's part of me that wants to wait a little longer to get some of the first few pages done in order to post several at the same time so it can start with a bit of substance...but then it'd take a long time and I'm not sure I'm that patient. So what would you guys prefer? Start as soon as it's ready? Or wait a bit and post a bunch of the intro together?

Either way, there will be at least SOME hiatus. This page will continue to update every Monday, but for a while it will be with concept art for the sequel. If you don't want to stick around for that, I completely understand. You can watch either my Deviantart page or the facebook page (www.facebook.com/pages/Twisted…). I will be posting announcements on both when the comic proper will resume.

Let me know what you guys think!

And thank you all again for reading! This has been a blast to make. I've met some amazing people through this project and I've had so much fun doing it! That's why I can't quit! See you for whatever comes next!
Twisted Mirrors Epilogue: Desinence
This is an epilogue to my recently completed comic, Twisted Mirrors: www.twistedmirrorscomic.com

...and I should note, that if you haven't read the comic, this little flash thingy will make absolutely no sense.

Just a light little thing to bring it all to a close. The timing of it plays slightly different on different computers I found, but I sincerely hope it looks okay for your guys.

No real revelations here or anything. It's supposed be like a movie credit sequence to cap it off. (I briefly considered putting in fake credits to drive it home, but I decided I wasn't clever enough and was too lazy to do it. haha!) You don't need to consider any of this canon if you don't want to, since it can't be included in the print editions for obvious reasons. It's just for a bit of fun to celebrate reaching the end. :D

This took me a lot longer to finish than I care to admit. For context, this song wasn't a popular single when I started working on this.. and yet despite how long I've been working on it, I was still working on this pretty much right up until I uploaded it, and had to upload it with some issues that I'd dearly love to change (and threw together the preloader at the last minute, which is why it's so bare bones). Some parts were rushed and others I spent entirely too much time on...though which parts are which might surprise you. At the end of the day it's cobbled together from pieces that I'm really pleased with and parts that kind of embarrass me with none of it really being how I envisioned. Overall that honestly seems like it's pretty much the perfect cap stone to this story.

Preparation
Just a little practice before the festival starts.

This is one of the lead characters from Twisted Mirrors: Rift. It was intentionally made with bright, vibrant colors, deep shadows, and varied lighting in order to contrast it more sharply with its companion piece: dragonsong12.deviantart.com/ar…
...Lots of errors in this one but instead of pointing them out I'll say: let's all just enjoy the fact that at least my coloring is improving a little. ^^;

I also recorded the process of creating this piece as well. It's a little more complete than the other once since I included the drawing phase as well, but it also is sped up a bit faster since I didn't want the video to be hours long, so you might not see what's going on as well.

Escapism
There are all sorts of ways to escape...

This is one of the lead characters from Twisted Mirrors: Rift. This was intentionally made with very muted colors, greyed shading and flat lighting in order to contrast it more starkly with its companion piece: dragonsong12.deviantart.com/ar…
...messed up his line of sight, though. That's an annoyingly consistent problem for me. We'll just pretend he's looking where he's going to carve next...

I recorded the process of creating this digital painting, which you can see over on youtube:

Man-Made Monster
:iconra-ooo: created a rather fascinating 3D found object sculpture that your guys should check out- ra-ooo.deviantart.com/art/Scra…

I thought it was a pretty impressive bit of creativity and artistry and the more I looked at it, the more I thought "I wanna draw it, it looks like it'd be really fun to draw" and thus was this creation born. Mine is not particularly creative (I'm just drawing what I see) nor is it particularly well done (I'm not a very detail-oriented drawer and so a LOT of details were left out), but I was correct that it was in fact a lot of fun to draw, so thank you :iconra-ooo:!

What "art" is, I think changes a lot from person to person. To me, one of the most fascinating aspects of art is how it can change so drastically for each individual viewer. This is why i tend to leave a lot of things vague in my writing so that I'm not dictating things and can see what their interpretation is. It's that which makes things like this fun. This was what I saw. What do you see? :)

Doing it in pen and ink was my plan from the get-go, but it took all my will-power not to shade it as I do Twisted Mirrors. I think shading would've actually ruined as the more simplistic look was what I was going for.

I've always had an interest in cartoons and comics. I work for a living, but spend almost all of my free time drawing, either for one of my two webcomics, or for work you see here in the gallery. Though I don't have any illusions of being "professional" I do enjoy it and I keep working to improve.
